皆さんは「混雑率200%」という言葉を聞いたことがありますか？
これは、身動きが全くとれない状態を指します。私も学生時代や会社員時代にこの満員電車を経験しましたが、そのストレスはすさまじいものでした。
東京で働く人の多くは、片道1時間ほどかけて通勤します。しかも満員電車に乗りますから、オフィスに着いた頃には仕事をする前にすでに「へとへと」になっています。これでは作業効率が悪くなるだけでなく、QOL（生活の質）が下がりまくってしまいます。
コロナ禍のあとの現実
新型コロナウイルスの流行中、多くの人が在宅ワークを経験しました。満員電車のストレスから解放され、多くの人が「これこそが人間らしい生活だ」と感じたと思います。
しかし、現在はどうでしょうか。結局また多くの人が満員電車に揺られて通勤する日常に戻ってしまいました。まさに「地獄」のような光景が繰り返されています。
解決策は夢のまた夢？
行政も手をこまねいているわけではありません。東京都知事が「2階建て電車」を導入して混雑を解消すると宣言したこともありましたが、未だに実現していません。
利用者からは解決のために「座席のない車両を走らせる」「本数を増やす」といった様々な意見が出ていますが、どれも決定的な解決策にはなっていません。日本で「満員電車ゼロ」が実現するのは、残念ながらまだ先のことになりそうです。
