あなたにとって、日本の春 といえば 「桜」ですか？ 「お花見」ですか？
日本では、
春は「別れ（卒業）」と「出会い（入学・入社）」を 象徴する
特別な 季節です。
でも、日本に 住んでいる人 にとって、春は それだけではありません。
今日は 「リアルな日本の春」について お話しします。
春のダークサイド：花粉症
「目が、かゆい……。鼻水が止まらない！」
桜が咲く美しい季節には、ダークサイド「花粉症」があります。日本に住む外国人の方も、数年経つと急に発症することが多いと言います。
春にマスクやメガネをしている人が多いのは、花粉対策なのです。日本のドラッグストアでは一年を通して様々なマスクが売られていますが、春は特に種類が豊富です。
春の風物詩：ヤマザキ春のパンまつり

これを知っていたらものすごく日本通です。これは、日本の大きなパンメーカー「山崎製パン」が毎年行っているキャンペーンで、シールを集めると「白いお皿」がもらえます。
私の体感では、もう30年以上続いている気がします。（この記事を書くために調べたら、なんと1981年から40年以上も続いているそうです！）実は、私は一度も参加したことがありません。でも、このキャンペーンは完全に日本の春の「市民権」を得ています。
参加したことがなくても、CMで見たり、スーパーでシールを見ると「ああ、春が来たな」と感じます。まさに春の「スタメン（＝風物詩）」です。もしこれがなくなったら、きっと強い「違和感」があるでしょう。

美しい桜、辛すぎる花粉症、そしてシールを集めて白いお皿に夢中な人々。セーラー服を着たおじさん。ペットボトルを頭に乗せて自転車に乗るおじさん。
日本の春は、いろいろな要素が混ざっていてとても賑やかです。カオスです。

Then, there is a true cultural icon called the “Yamazaki Spring Bread Festival.” It’s a massive campaign where people collect stickers to get a “white plate.” It has been running for over 40 years! Even if you don’t participate, seeing those stickers in the supermarket is a sign that spring has arrived. It’s a “starting member” (a must-have staple) of the season.
From beautiful flowers and painful allergies to the obsession with bread plates and even eccentric characters you might see on the street—Japanese spring is a colorful, busy, and somewhat chaotic mix of everything.
